Natural Sciences

Do you love to study science? Are you seeking a career in the medical field? Perhaps mathematics is your strength and you're interested in becoming a statistician, or maybe you are interested in working in the informatics sector. If these areas of study interest you, you may want to consider designating Natural Sciences as your major.

Upon entering the University College with coursework from the disciplines listed below, you may be able to count hours toward fulfilling the Bachelor of General Studies degree requirements. If you meet pre-requisite, co-requisite and University catalog requirements for further studies in the Natural Sciences, you may continue to take courses in these areas toward a major in Natural Sciences. See individual department course requirements found in the University Catalog.

The Natural Sciences block includes:

ANTH 202, ANTH 430, ANTH 435, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Environmental Science, GEOG 104, Geology, Health Services Administration, HIST 384, Informatics, Mathematics, Organizational Leadership, Physics, Statistics, UNIV 200, or courses transferred from: Health Information Management, Louisiana Center for Health Informatics

Upon entering the University College with coursework from the above disciplines, you can count your hours towards fulfilling the Bachelor of General Studies degree requirements. If you meet pre-requisite, co-requisite and University catalog requirements for further studies in the above subject matter, you may continue to take courses in these areas - ultimately earning you a major in Natural Sciences. Natural Sciences Enrichment

If you choose Natural Sciences as one of your areas of Enrichment, you will complete 12 hours at 100-400 level. You may then decide if you want to designate Natural Sciences as your major.

Majoring in the Natural Sciences will prepare you for entrance into many rewarding and competitive professions.
