| |
An eligible veteran is one in which the following applies:
- The participant must have served on active duty in the regular Armed Forces, National Guard or Reserves for a period of more than 180 days or medically discharged
- The participant must have been discharged or released from active duty under the conditions other than dishonorable
- The participant must not have a Bachelor’s Degree
- Members of the Merchant Marines may also qualify

The VUB program at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is free to all eligible veterans residing only in the following parishes:
- Acadia
- Iberia
- Evangeline
- Lafayette
- St. Landry
- St. Martin
- Vermillion
