Veterans Upward Bound courses are selected and organized to assure adequate preparation for college and vocational training and to develop and enhance the motivation in each student to pursue post-secondary education.
The following courses are offered at VUB by professional teachers.
- Computer Literacy
- Internet
- English
- Math
- Science
- French
- Spanish

Apart from the courses offered the the following academic and counseling services are provided to the students enrolled in the VUB program:
- College preparation
- Vocational and educational counseling
- GED preparation
- ACT and other entrance exam preparation
- Assistance with financial aid
- Educational field trips
- Tutorial and referral services
- School selection
- Career counseling
- Test taking skills
- Achievement awards ceremony
- Special student awards
- Cultural activities
- Travel stipend
